Advanced Photonics Technology Development Group,
RIKEN Center for Advanced Photonics

2-1 Hirosawa, Wako, Saitama 351-0198 Japan

Outline

Advanced optical technology and quantum beam technology are in high demand in social programs such as agriculture, remote sensing for the measurement of the global environment, medical applications in Japan’s aging society, and new low-carbon energies, as well as in basic sciences, such as quantum physics, space science, biology, and solid-state physics. In particular, to achieve breakthroughs and innovation in the industry, and solve the social problems that Japan is facing, there is an urgent need to establish technologies based on optics, light sources, light detection technologies, and quantum beams. Our Group is developing the on-demand light sources and laser driven quantum generation and control technologies (Photonics Control Technology Team), compact neutron beam sources, and their applications (Neutron Beam Technology Team), and ultraprecise optics fabrication technology for optical and quantum systems (Ultrahigh Precision Optics Technology Team). Our group also supports research at RIKEN on engineering and manufacturing (Advanced Manufacturing Support Team).
